Alice is an adorable, young (1-2 year old ), 42 lb. mixed breed with soft, slightly fluffy brown fur and a goofy grin. She is incredibly affectionate with people she trusts though she can be a little shy at the start. She seems to prefer women. Alice loves her best friend Gertrude (with whom she was found) but does not fully trust other dogs yet. If introduced to a home with another dog, a patient, slow introduction would be recommended. She is not recommended for a home with cats.
Alice has been the recipient of a 5 week training program at the prestigious Lara's Canine Solutions in Wimberley ($3200 value). She knows her commands including sit, down, stay and come, and is a smart girl eager to learn more. She is also leash-trained, house-trained and crate-trained.

Alice was found with her BFF Gertrude as a stray in the middle of a parking lot, starving, filthy and terrified. Over the past four months, she has made enormous strides. She has not only undergone an intensive training program, she has had hip surgery to repair a dislocated hip, been successfully treated for heartworm, spayed and now is finally ready to find her forever home.

Due to circumstances beyond their control, Gertrude and Alice currently live in an office environment (actually a law firm!) where they love nothing more than to lie near their foster's feet (Gertrude loves that space heater) all day long. Although they are young, they are both relatively low energy dogs, grateful to have a safe place to crash off the streets, and happy to just hang out all day. They survived on the street together and would love to stay together in an adoptive home but can be adopted separately. Alice is a silly, loving companion just looking for someone who wants her gentle snuggles.

Something to Consider:

  • Puppies don't train themselves

If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.

Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.

  • Puppies turn into dogs...
