Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”
If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.
The <a href="https://www.petmd.com/dog/care/how-long-do-dogs-live">average lifespan</a> for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.
And… if you just ‘honest to God’ love puppies and wish they never turned into dogs, we have a great option for you – you can foster puppies! PUPPIES DON’T TRAIN THEMSELVES …</h3>

If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.
Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Getting upset because your brand new puppy isn’t housebroken, doesn’t know when he plays too rough, or has chewed something up is like abandoning your cat because it had the nerve to meow. Adopting a puppy is like building a house from raw materials: adopting a dog is like buying a house! You can choose if you want a newly renovated home (a dog in foster care – he comes potty trained and with a bag of tricks) or get a fixer-upper (a dog who just needs a little effort and TLC).
If you aren’t ready to put all you’ve got into making the perfect dog for you, do yourself (and the puppy you would surely return) a favor and don’t adopt the puppy.

To adopt, we require that all current pets are:

<li>indoor animals</li>
<li>up-to-date on vaccinations</li>
<li>spayed/neutered unless there is a specific medical reason</li>
<li>dogs are on heartworm prevention</li>
</ul>
&nbsp;
Please understand that the listed breed is our best guess. We can not guarantee any breed.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

Adults are $200 and under a year is $250 in Texas.
&nbsp;
Out of state adoptions are $400 &#8211; $500.
&nbsp;
Specialty/high demand breeds could have a higher adoption fee.

We strive to provide a safe place for homeless, neglected, abandoned kittens, late term pregnant moms and mom cats with kittens. All of our GDR kitties are given age appropriate vaccines, dewormer and are spayed/neutered and forever homes are found for each.
