Meet Athena, an incredibly smart and spunky white Pitbull puppy who's ready to find her forever home! This little girl is full of personality and charm. Athena absolutely loves her toys and will happily entertain herself, but she's always up for some interactive playtime too. Her playful spirit really shines through when she's trying to keep up with the bigger dogs, showing off her spicy side by pouncing and joining in the fun without hesitation.

Athena is also a curious observer. She'll sit by the garage door, waiting for her chance to follow the other dogs outside and discover the world around her. After a good play session, she loves nothing more than curling up for a nap-either with you or cuddling up next to the bigger dogs she looks up to.

We're a couple of sweet pups who came from a breeder and didn't find homes when we were younger, so we spent most of our lives in a pen. But now that we're at the rescue, we are soaking up all the love and attention we can! We adore sitting on laps, following you around, and being by your side. We're also learning how to play with toys and getting used to walking on a leash. We get along great with other dogs and are crate trained, though sometimes we sing when we want out. We're ready to find our forever homes where we can finally enjoy life to the fullest!

<p>If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.</p>


Puppies don't train themselves

<p>This is going to happen every time and incredibly fast. Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”</p>

<p>If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The average lifespan for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.</p>
