Teddy is a sweet and playful Boxer/Shepherd mix puppy. He's a little shy at first, especially in new environments.But with a  4 legged friend, Teddy will quickly come out of his shell. A Sweet Litter of Puppies!!

A little group of 5 puppies were brought into the rescue as bottle babies.  Their mom had died, and they were too young to eat on their own.   So, they came to the rescue to be fed and to grow!

They were born about December 2nd, and are now off the bottle, eating kibble well and growing like proverbial weeds!  Their days are a cycle of eating, sleeping, pooing, playing and repeat…typical puppy behavior at this age!

They will get second shots and surgery in early February and will be able to go home after that.
Cocoa is my name, but foster mom calls me Coco-Puff for some reason.  I think she is making fun of me for being one of the fluffy puppies in the litter but that is ok.  I love being held and cuddled and if I must put up with a dumb name, it is worth it. 

I have coloring like a Belgian Malinois like my brother Dark Chocolate, but mine is a lighter coloring.  And I have black toes.  What is with that?  Too weird.  It is like they are dirty all of the time but they really aren’t.  

I get along with everyone in the house but really love the chihuahua, Bootsie.  She comes to greet us in the morning and is like a substitute mom to us, although we are almost the same size!  She is fun to play with and is very patient.

<p>If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.</p>


Puppies don't train themselves

<p>This is going to happen every time and incredibly fast. Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”</p>

<p>If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The average lifespan for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.</p>

<p>And… if you just ‘honest to God’ love puppies and wish they never turned into dogs, we have a great option for you – you can foster puppies!
