Puppy

Prim. That's my now name. Foster mama says it's because the first people's I lived with called me Princess and there are like 2,220,976 other doggies in rescue named that already and she didn't want anybody to be confused about who I am. Also, because I kinda knew my then name already. Close enough. I am a shih tzu puppy. My birthday is March 12th.

I am not as "prim" as my new to me name suggests. I'm a girl, sure, but I'm not afraid to get out into nature (the backyard) and find a few stick or A-corns to chew on. Foster mama says the A-corns are for the tree kittens. Something about they hide them for the winters. What's a "winters"?

Anyway, I come with a free AAA membership for life. Cause I'm Affectionate, Attentive and Adorable. I give endless kisses and love lap nap time. Car rides are great for those. If you are ready for a shadow, that's me. I'll follow you ANYWHERE! Oh and I'm super polite with other doggies my size. Foster mama says a little too polite sometimes. My perpetual smile is my mostest endearing feature. It's contagious. You already knew that though. Oh and my fur is luxurious and soft. So shiny. I should be in a shampoo commercial. Also, I hardly shed. I love that for me. And you.

Note from Foster mama Sarah:

-She is microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, and spayed.
-Good with other dogs of the same size
-Loves her toys
-Good in the car
-Submissive
-Affectionate
-Crate/house trained

Local adoption fee is $400 (in TX)
Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)

Niabi may be a little shy at first, but give her a day, a few tasty treats, and a little patience—and you’ll discover the sweetest velcro girl you could ask for. Once she bonds, she’s all yours, happily sticking by your side through every part of the day.
She tends to connect more quickly with women, while men may need to give her a bit of extra time to earn her trust. But once she feels safe, her true personality shines—happy, playful, and full of life!
Niabi LOVES to play, and stuffed toys don’t stand a chance in her world—she’ll happily shred them like it’s her full-time job. She’s also got the cutest excitement hops, jumping up in the air when it’s time to eat or go potty. It’s impossible not to smile watching her celebrate the little things.
She does great with other dogs and even cats, making her a wonderful addition to a multi-pet home. And when she chooses her person, she loves deeply—staying close, soaking up affection, and giving it right back.
Niabi is looking for a patient, understanding home that will let her warm up at her own pace—and in return, she’ll give you a loyal, joyful best friend for life

SweetTart is a Velcro puppy who believes personal space is highly overrated! When you come home, she gets so excited that she wants to cover your entire face in kisses. Why settle for a simple hello when you can get the full SweetTart smooch treatment?

This adorable girl has the cutest little curled tail and an underbite that will steal your heart. She gets along with other dogs and doesn’t mind sharing her home with cats, either!

SweetTart is still working on her potty training and learning that it’s okay when her people leave. She can be a little barky when you head out, but she’s already showing improvement.

SweetTart would love a family who wants a loyal little shadow, a professional cuddle buddy, and a puppy who thinks every homecoming deserves a kissing marathon. If you’re looking for a best friend who will adore you with her whole heart (and then some), **SweetTart is ready to stick to you like sugar!

If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.

Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.

Puppies don't train themselves

This is going to happen every time and incredibly fast. Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”

If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.

The average lifespan for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.

And… if you just ‘honest to God’ love puppies and wish they never turned into dogs, we have a great option for you – you can foster puppies! You get to help a life in need, get all the fun that comes along with puppies, and never have to have a dog! WIN, WIN!!! Please visit our fostering page for more information.
